Some of the best years of my life were those I spent touring with Freddie and playing in his band. It was an honor in itself to share the stage with such a talented musician - the fact that he was my brother made it that much sweeter. It was a privilege to be playing the music I loved with the brother that I loved.
Those days ended too fast, and Freddie's untimely passing left a hole not only in my heart but in the world of music. Although he is gone, I’m proud that his memories and music live on. I’m even prouder that Freddie has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! He is this year's entry into the “Early Influence” category which recognizes his contributions to modern electric blues. He is finally taking his place beside many giants whose careers were shaped by Freddie's influence.
I just recorded a new CD in memory of my brother - "A Tribute to My Brother Freddie King". This project has been a long time coming and I hope it's a fitting tribute to the blues master known as "The Texas Cannonball". I miss you, Freddie.
